So it was International Women’s Day on Thursday…did anyone do anything? It’s unlikely many people knew about it. I wrote IWD on my breasts in permanent marker but I am really not sure that made much of a difference. The thing is what is one supposed to do on International Women’s day? Think about the struggles of women in the world? Email all your female friends pictures and messages of love and support? Read Jane Eyre? It’s hard to say.
Having a day is great don’t get me wrong, but it isn’t much good if nobody knows it’s there. Here are some fun and only half serious suggestions to really beef it up:
On a more serious note we could write to the leaders of countries where young girls have genital mutilation performed asking them to stamp it out. We could campaign for the release of women imprisoned or on death row for ‘adultery’. We could make or collect donations for groups like Oxfam so they can futher their work educating girls and training business women in the poorest countries in the world. And we could send messages and letters of solidarity to the women we know who are in pain. Good grief could you imagaine the impact on the world if we all pledged to do exactly that. Then no-one would forget this day.

It has been a while….no? I am truly sorry bout that. (Golly gosh it seems like I apologise a lot.) I would love to say that it is because I have been busy but it is not. I have been very ill with OCD but it would be churlish to say that that is the only reason I have not written. OCD makes you feel lethargic but I think me being a lazy cow probably had something to do with it!
I have not really got much to say except that Amnesty International have released their 2011 little book of BIG achivements in which they reveal that Illinois has been the 16th state to abolish the death penalty, I and also to urge people with strong constitutions to watch ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’.But warning! It is a bit rape-y
No, because not everyone with a uterus is a woman, and trans* erasure is never cool, dudebrah. Also, it’s pretty damn important to stand for the basic human right of having control over your own body and making decisions about it with your doctor, without the intrusion of a government full of mostly straight white old men. C’mon now.

Had a really weird evening today, had to run to the vet for one of my bunny rabbits…he’s fine by the way, now but I have to give him oral antibiotics which is sad but really cute because I syringe it in and he laps it up with his little tongue! Apparantly it tastes like sugar which is making me wonder why, whenever i need medicine, it normally tastes awful but never mind!
I have taken a bit of an evening off really which is cheeky because I am so bad at keeping up with writing interesting posts! But I have a subject for tommorrow’s post so watch this space!
By the way if anyone is interested in the programme I referenced in my post on shaving here it is! But it may only work in the UK! It is called ‘Hairy Women’ and it was a bit of a one off.
